I agree with kle; no handles is sleek. and double sink.
thick or semi-thick benchtop
not all white
cupboards mostly (less to keep clean) but one or two shelves in addition
wood feature, definately (teak or rosewood colour)

I also love minimal design and space maximisation, and the pictures you have shown are beautiful. Have you considered using a sliding door, or even better, a pocket door, into the kitchen? You can make space for so much more when you have a door invisibly retracted into a wall!

I'm going to put in my two cents worth too:

- no handles
- thick benchtop
- majority white with wood feature
- stone if you can afford it, otherwise laminate can look just as effective when used properly
- mostly cupboards, a couple of exposed shelves if you have the appropriate space and place to put them
- definitely wood feature
- double sink

I have pretty much just described the kitchen I am designing for myself!
