here's a house update, haven't done one for donkeys

this is the finally of the big 'to do' things for our house

our deck! we decided to spend a little extra and use hardwood

we went with a sustainable light wood - tallowwood

we also decided to add another awning

more shade and cover from rain,

with almost 2 kids, i think this is a great decision

still not finished but very usable

we enjoyed most of the weekend out here

hi all,

i've just put the girl to bed, after a busy day

our first bus trip into the city, although shopping is never fun with the girl, she is to independent to sit in a pram, other than that she would be almost the perfect child, oh well what kid is perfect?

anyhow, thought i'ld check out zara and see what the hype was about, yeah good but i still came home with nothing. another 'oh well' lest we had a nice coffee, strawberry milkshake and a slice of pear and raspberry loaf.

so haven't i been around much, i guess i've been hibernating,

it's spring now and i think i've already eaten my share if strawberries for the year, i have to fight the girl for them or quickly scoff them down so i get 3 to her 1, yes it's sounds evil but i really like strawberries too.

for some reason the girl likes playing with water even if it's the dogs water.

and hanging out at the park or playing with play dough or lego.

this was a very delicious cake which my mum made for mothers day, meanwhile i've become a lazy photographer, it's just to easy to quickly grab the iphone and snap away.

we spent the last few days up at the family holiday house.
i did nothing but eat, drink and lounge around,

mr b had a busy weekend trying to get our front yard ready for landscaping, meanwhile miss b was loving the 'dirt digger' and 'big truck' and i think could have happily stayed there all day.

after my last post, i thought back to what was.
this shot was taking a couple of years after we moved in, i can't even begin to tell you how horrible it was inside, think burgundy wallpaper on the bathroom ceiling with pine wood panels on the wall and terracotta coloured bath, sink and toilet, one bedroom was bright pink and another blue, horrible i tell you. of course we painted and re did the bathroom before moving in.

anyhow a few mention the deck in my last post, this is actually what was left of the beautiful deck we built when we moved in (pictured, if you look closely you can see mr b and moose in the hammock) we have got plans to redo the deck and make it double the size, can't wait!! another big project on the to do list. also the plan is to paint the house white!!

also mention was my cactus, i've had this since 1987 and i tell ya it was no bigger than my thumb.

finally a rendered house, unsure why it took us so long? it wasn't like we were doing the work ourselves. i'm pretty sure it was ready to render about a year and a half ago, so no excuse.
now, all we need is to get those other little things done and then we could paint...

yesterday we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary

we have known each other since we were 14 or 15
and from that time i knew i wanted to grow old with him
even though we didn't hook up till years later
anyhow that's enough love talk...

we celebrated by a trip to palm beach
where we had fish and chips at the boat house
yummy!! and the weather was perfect!!

long time between post, my computer is being a nanna and just can't keep up with the basics so it's painful to be on it, annoying!!
anyhow, the past two weekends have been spent in the garden or should i say creating a garden.
doesn't really look like much now but hopeful this time next year, it will do photos some justice.
and as you can see, yes that is my daughter with a gob full of dirt, non stop busy bee loves the outdoors or does she love getting dirty? let the kid be a kid i say.

never got into the whole tree thing maybe because it was just the two of us and it wasn't like we had christmas at ours so why bother, oh and we didn't have the room.
but this year we opt to go all out and get the real thing, oh what fun we had hunting for the tree we chopped down - oh so nasty.
must say it looks pretty perfect to me, even better when the lights are on.
lola loves it, moose couldn't care less.

here is the driveway, dirty already, no wonder - notice the piles of dirt everywhere.
and yes it's a plain concrete driveway but when you are laying 170sqm that's about all the budget can handle
just image it with the house being white and some nice gates and the garden done, i think it will look pretty good and don't you think it's a kids haven, soon it will be scattered with bikes before i know it or with all the husbands toys.

• driveway is done, just in time before the rain hit
• we have a new bed - at long last - early christmas present
• the girl is now 10 months and standing by herself - she thinks she is fabulous - so do i

the big job we have been putting off all year.
replacing the driveway.
messy and expensive.

the man has been busy most of the week ripping up the old drive and also doing some plumbing work. this job as held up some other jobs around the house, like the deck (which would be very nice for summer) and the underneath plumbing for our ensuite (it's has been fully tiled since last december) and then the render of the original part of the house. the list could go on...

at the moment my sister is busy planning her wedding and in true 'plain jane' fashion decided to get rid of the beads & crystals on her dress and decided to go for a ribbon sash, she also had the thought of a flower in her hair, and mum of course thought this would be to plain for a wedding dress, so we thought it would be nice to have some flowers on the sash also.

a couple of weeks ago, to my surprise i got myself an ebay bargain!!
welcome my new, old outdoor setting. ok so i don't have a perfect spot for it yet as the yard and deck need a lot of work but how could i resist?
it's in fairly good condition, 1 out of the 4 chairs is a little bent, unsure if it's fixable but for now i think i'll give the setting a spray of paint and just enjoy the very comfy chairs and this gorgeous winter sun.

well i'm guilty. i do need curtains for the main bedroom and the spare bedroom. i love these black curtains but my floors aren't white and if i go grey will it be to much of the same tones? or play it safe and go white? no wonder i've had sheets for the last 4 months.

the man is big on his grass and is all about the perfect lawn, and finally our dirt backyard has grass. It was a huge weekend that involved a lot of prep work before the grass could be laid, we also made our garden shed smaller and move it towards the corner of the house to maximise our lawn area. next step the plants.
